What happens during detoxification?

As your body goes through the process of eliminating toxins and purifying itself, your cells are eliminating toxic substances, referred to as the “die-off” process. Before they make their final exit, the toxins are released into the bloodstream, then carried through the circulatory system.

What to expect during the “die-off” process?

The “die-off” process, also known as Herxheimer Reactions, typically only lasts 1-2 days with mild symptoms. Your body is doing what it is supposed to do!

What can YOU do to support the detoxification process?

For Headache: Try a warm or cold compress on the head and lay down in a dark and quiet room for a few moments.

Stay Hydrated: You must drink plenty of water during the detox process! No tap water! Have plenty of fresh, filtered water. Drink half of your body weight in ounces of water per day.

Get Some Rest: When you feel tired, you should listen to your body and rest. Hot showers with skin exfoliation are soothing, meditation can help to cope with mood swings or emotional disturbances.

Eat Lightly: If possible, eat plenty of broth-based soups, fresh fruit and vegetables, and light meals. If you are experiencing excessive gas, bloating, constipation, or diarrhea, pause food intake and increase water intake. Decrease intake of processed foods, gluten, dairy, and sugar.

Exercise: Continue to exercise or move daily! Sweat!!!! Going outside for fresh air and sunshine is also helpful.

Swim: Swimming assists the lymphatic system in the drainage process.

Keep Calm: Try to be as relaxed, stress-free, and peaceful as possible throughout your detox. Stay positive and keep in mind that you are restoring yourself to an ideal state of health.

Dry Skin Brushing: A powerful approach to stimulating immune function and the lymphatic system. This can be done 1 or 2 times a day on dry skin before shower or bath for 3-5 minutes. The direction of the brushing is always in the direction of the heart. Begin at the feet and sweep the brush ( Recommended: Yerga Prima skin brush with the long handle) over the skin in long brushes, covering the same pathway 3 times each. Slowly work up the front and back of the body, the feet, legs, abdomen, and arms with special attention to the armpits and breasts (avoid nipples), the buttocks, back, and neck.

Epsom Salt Bath: Soak and RELAX! The sulfates in Epsom help draw the toxins out of your body.

Children under 60 lbs. – Add ½ cup to a regular sized bath; Individuals between 60-100 lbs. – Add 1 cup; 100-150 lbs. – 1 ½ cups; 150-200 lbs. – 2 cups; for every additional 50 lbs. add an additional ½ a cup.

It is recommended that individuals go through a whole-body detox twice a year as they are exposed daily to toxins. Over time toxic build-up occurs and our detoxification processes stop working properly. This allows the toxins to penetrate and disrupt cellular function.
